Renovation of a turn-of-the-century house for a family with two young children who relocated from Europe.
A whole-house renovation with new finishes in all rooms. Existing terrazzo floors were repaired and polished, existing steel sash windows and doors repaired, their hardware stripped and polished. Throughout, lighting was upgraded, surfaces were repainted, and hardware was changed out and systems were updated. New mud room created in the existing garage to provide a transition to the kitchen entrance and eliminate a steep staircase. Kitchen renovation with built-in breakfast area, large rectified porcelain tile floors, dark finish mahogany veneer cabinets, granite counter-tops, and additional storage created by cantilevering pantry cabinets into existing garage area. New master suite includes a renovated bathroom, new dressing room (created from a former bedroom). a new granite fireplace surround and updated lighting. Over the garage, a new guest bedroom was created from two smaller bedrooms.
